Be All In

It was my scheduled work day and I had a list a mile-long of all that I wanted to accomplish. I reviewed my list with my husband as he headed out the door. I was so looking forward to tackling my list once I had done preschool drop off. Then, entered my son’s realization that it was the day of the zoo field trip. “Mommy, I want you to come” he said in his sweet voice. “No, baby, Mommy’s got lots of work I have to do today” was my response. His wheels started turning, “But, Mommy, there are lots of other Mommies there that want to meet you” After a long list of reasons, he ended with “I love you the most-est. I want you to spend time with me at the zoo”.

Eventually, I gave in and just lifted my hands up to the Lord. “Okay, God, I want to treasure my time of having a preschooler. Give me direction, though, on my business today. Help me to know how to get it all done.”

You see, I was struggling, feeling like I was at a crossroads of where to go in coaching. Friends were saying to jump back into the 8-5 career world field, but I was feeling like I hadn’t given enough time to serving moms and women as I had set out to. I was sensing that God had a message for me regarding this, but I didn’t know how or when I would hear it.

And then, He spoke through a preschool mom in the reptile house. “What do you do?” a mom asked. I gave her my short answer of how I am multi-faceted but focusing primarily on life coaching women, especially moms who feel lost and overwhelmed. Her encouragement blew me away. “That’s awesome!! You’re changing lives! Tell me more”. After chatting with her a bit she asked how she could find me and I shared my socials. Then, we moved onto snack time with the preschool class and our time was limited.

But in those few minutes she spoke life into me. Her excitement and encouragement were so energizing. She didn’t make a funny face and say “What is life coaching?”.  She also wasn’t threatened by my status of being a business owner and entrepreneur. She was solid in who she was so she could be fully available to stand with me.

Isn’t that what we all need? To be available and ready to speak encouragement and show excitement for what women around us are doing? To applaud the healthy choices they are making? And to not insert ourselves into the equation but to be all in on supporting that woman?

In 2 Corinthians 9:8 we read “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (NIV). I don’t doubt that in doing the work God has called me to in this season, He will bless me and that the fruit will be good, by His grace.

Join me in living a life where we can welcome others to the table, knowing there’s plenty to go around. Know that her abundance doesn’t diminish what God has for you!
